Charity Champagne Brunch – September 2007


This picture has Professor Suresh Sundram along with the Disha Team. Prof Sundram spoke at our Disha function at Melbourne Park.	This picture is of machinery which Disha has donated to the Mental Health Institute of Victoria. It is a "Perkins Elma DNA Thermal Cycler" - this vital equipment will be used to analyse DNA from patients with psychiatric illnesses. The aim of the research being done using this equipment is to identify genes that are involved in the cause of psychiatric illness and also to understand which genes to target to enable effective treatment response.	This picture has Dr. Ross Johnstone explaining the details of the machinery to the Disha Team.

The pictures feature one of the 3 chairs funded by DISHA that are in use for patients undergoing palliative care at The Alfred Hospital. All of the chairs have been attached with a plaque recognizing Disha’s support and in memory of Boney Dhar
